![]() ![]() Read up on the changes and update/patch if needed. Just to be clear, this does NOT mean that the latest and greatest version is something you should be blindly going for. I guess the essential thing with any system is to keep it up to date. It doesn't matter if you are a light user or a family with many heavy users, the point is that you should take all the steps that you can to minimize the attack surface towards your NAS, your data, and apps and services. There are a lot of elements that you need to include when it comes to making your NAS as a platform secure. SECURE METHODS OF ACCESS VIA THE INTERNET Trusted/untrusted client settings (former AutoBlock). Here are the main elements that this article will cover: Best to do all you can to avert as much threat as possible, then to regret it later on. Just to be clear, if you have no connection to the outside world means you can't be attacked as well. ![]() Still, saying this does not mean that it is a bad thing, but also thinking that you are 100% safe is an illusion. Using a NAS but not having some access to it while outside your home, limits you in many ways. Having access to your data at any time is almost essential nowadays. Mainly when accessing the NAS from the outside world. You will see what would be best to do in specific cases to maintain your security but still not trouble yourself too much when you need access to your NAS. To wrap this up, this article will focus on security and secure access in general. Here we are at the end of this 101 series. UPDATE: Added Secure SignIn reference under " Hardening your user account" heading. ![]() ![]() Depending on the application type, it may or may not require a rolling restart. Either using an environment variable or similar. In this strategy, you have a change ready to go which instructs your application to start connecting to the new database. Note: These are just suggestions and pg_easy_replicate doesn't provide any functionalities for this. Once that happens you can perform any of the following strategies. Switchover strategies with minimal downtimeįor minimal downtime, it'd be best to watch/tail the stats and wait until switchover_completed_at is updated with a timestamp. $ pg_easy_replicate switchover -group-name database-cluster-2 $ pg_easy_replicate switchover -group-name database-cluster-1 $ pg_easy_replicate start_sync -group-name database-cluster-2 -schema-name public -tables "comments, views " $ pg_easy_replicate bootstrap -group-name database-cluster-2 $ pg_easy_replicate start_sync -group-name database-cluster-1 -schema-name public -tables "users, posts, events " $ pg_easy_replicate bootstrap -group-name database-cluster-1 It is up to user to kick of a rolling restart of your application containers or failover DNS (more on these below in strategies) after the switchover is complete, so that your application isn't sending any read/write requests to the old/source database. The switch is made by putting the user on the source database in READ ONLY mode, so that it is not accepting any more writes and waits for the flush lag to be 0. Switchover will wait until all tables in the group are replicating and the delta for lag is <200kb (by calculating the pg_wal_lsn_diff between sent_lsn and write_lsn) and then perform the switch. Once you have had the time to monitor stats and any other key metrics, you can kick off the switchover. When you start the sync via start_sync, it starts the replication between the two databases. Pg_easy_replicate doesn't kick off the switchover on its own. "application_name ": "pger_subscription_database_cluster_1 ", $ pg_easy_replicate stats -group-name database-cluster-1 Groups are just a logical isolation of a single replication. This ensures zero data loss and minimal downtime for the application. After the source (primary database) is fully replicating, pg_easy_replicate puts it into read-only mode and via logical replication flushes all data to the new target database. pg_easy_replicate also supports switchover. Pg_easy_replicate is a CLI orchestrator tool that simplifies the process of setting up logical replication between two PostgreSQL databases. ![]() ![]() ![]() The construction of the silos and launch control centers from Interstate 94 to the Canadian border began in 1964. ![]() I had my car in for service for the 5th time (same thing!!!) and GM explained to me that I was missing relay's and fuses in my car (yes, cause the car doesn't lock and the remote keyless entry had a glitch in it due to the recall")! I have filed several cases with GM about this and have had my identity stolen, 2 weeks after getting this vehicle!!!! since these items were missing, they wanted me to pay for this out of my own pocket, again GM's recall and issue not mine!!! since I wouldn't pay for what should have been warrantied, they removed the missing components from my car, charged me $250 for the diagnostic and a loaner car (total scam and they are allowing me to drive around with missing components that will continue to affect the glitches in the "byom" and car!? I am driving around a safety and identity theft hazard now due to GM and their lack of follow through on a known issue brought to their attention at the beginning of 2015 at defcon convention!! see - sam kamkar brought this to their attention. I have had my Trax in for service 5+ times due to the "byom" media and due to my car being hacked through the "glitch" through the mylink media center and informant system, which, ironically, at the beginning of May 2016, a recall notice was sent out about this issue. Others have reported these exact same issues here on the site so there are obviously issues with the 2015 Chevy Trax that GM is not addressing. Note: This is the 5th time the car has been taken in for major repairs since January 2019 (when purchased) and the 2nd time in 2 months it had to be towed in. Onstar sent 4 messages: One was service interlock braking system, two were regarding the traction control system and one was for the exhaust emissions system. Vehicle was towed and is currently sitting at mcclusky Chevrolet in kings auto mall, which is where the car was purchased used in Jan 2019. Check engine light was "flashing" since I was 1/4 mile or less from the house, I was able to limp the car home and called dealership. Car started shaking and smell of burning oil was present. Left for work and car was jerking, loosing power and would not accelerate. Car was working fine the previous day and had not been started / driven since.
